The rigid ideal weight measurement of times past has been replaced
by a dynamic value, the BODY MASS INDEX (BMI).
The
BMI is more fair to very small and very large people
as compared to the previous Broca index (height in cm
minus 100 = weight in kg).
The BMI is calculated by taking the body weight in kg and dividing it
by the square of the body height (in m2).
In overweight persons, it correlates
very well to their own body fat mass and corresponds
to the weight with the highest life expectancy.
