Five
percent of all cases of
breast cancer occur in families where a
higher incidence of cancer is seen due to hereditary reasons.
For
this small group of women,
the BRCA1 and BRCA2 antigenes are mutated. These parts
of the genotype control the cellular growth. In case
of mutation, cells grow th is uncontrolled and breast cancer can
develop.
Using modern molecular-biological methods
these mutations can be disclosed before tumors develop.

Such a
test makes only sense when embedded into a comprehensive consulting-concept. Thus
the teams working on preventive actions and therapies at
those centers consist of gynaecologists, geneticists and psychologists.
