For
an annual cancer precautionary measure, I take a smear of the external
cervix using a thin cotton swab. A second
smear is taken from inside the cervix; this
is experienced sometimes as somewhat uncomfortable.
The two probes are put into an alcohol solution;
the probes are sent to a cytological institute and examined there
in detail for cellular mutations and /
or cancer in early stages.
The results are grouped according to the greek physician
Papanicolaou (PAP Smear) .
If you do not hear from us within 2
or 3 weeks after the probes have been taken,
there are no irregularities.
Be
assured that we will get in touch with you immediately if
there are results that need further treatment.
