The occurrence of a specific combination of malformations and
abnormalities, the so-called "fetal alcohol syndrome" (FAS -
a pattern of mental and physical defects), was found so
far only in mothers, who regularly drink large quantities of alcohol.
- It is particularly dangerous when alcohol is taken regularly.
Food and drugs containing alcohol should also be
taken into account.
- Since there
are no known critical limits, when you are pregnant you should not take alcohol
on a regular basis.
- Most medical professionals
however agree that an occasional glass of wine or beer
is harmless.
