Caffeine is a stimulant and
narrows the blood vessels, thus decreasing the oxygen supply of
the placenta. Excessive consumption can affect the weight of the baby.
Caffeine is passed on from the mother directly to the child when breastfeeding,
making the baby irritable and nervous.
If
you
depend heavily on coffee
or caffeinated soft drinks, try the decaffeinated varieties or keep
your coffee intake to a minimum.
