EVRAŽ - The first Contraceptive Plaster

The contraceptive plaster passes hormones into the blood circulation through the skin. You stick it on for 3 weeks (one plaster for 7 days) - the fourth week is plaster-free.

EVRAŽ is suitable...

For every healthy woman who wants reliable and flexible contraception, but does not want to take a pill every day - instead she is willing to stick a plaster on her skin.

EVRAŽ is not suitable..

Like with all other contraceptives containing ethinyloestradiol there is a higher risk of getting venous and arterial thromboembolic diseases; e.g. thrombosis, lung embolism or stroke.
That risk might increase with other influencing factors like smoking, high blood pressure, overweight, varicose veins.
The risk increases with age and number of cigarettes smoked.
In these cases I recommend either the hormonal spiral (MIRENA) or hormonal rods (IMPLANON).

For women with a body weight of 90 kg or more, EVRAŽ might be less effective. Therefore EVRAŽ is not suitable for these women.

Summary

The contraceptive plaster EVRAŽ is a modern and very reliable contraceptive method - but it is relatively expensive. It works like the classical pill - but needs to be applied onto the skin only once a week with a lower hormonal dose compared to the regular pill.
