NuvaRing® - a small ring with a big effect

This is a new form of hormonal contraception:  a small ring, placed into the vagina once a month.

Effect

Like the "classical" pill NuvaRing® hinders ovulation and the speed of sperm motion thus reliably preventing pregnancy.
Since the actual position of the ring in the vagina has no influence on its function a woman can put it where it is the most comfortable for her. Due to its flexiblility the ring "fits" every woman.
The ring remains 21 days inside the vagina constantly emitting hormones that are absorbed via the mucous membrane.
After three weeks the ring is removed completely by simply taking it out. During the following week without the ring the menstrual period starts - usually 3 days after the ring has been taken out. Then a new ring has to be inserted for the next three weeks.
