STERILIZATION

Effect:

During the sterilization of a woman the two fallopian tubes are irreversibly blocked so that eggs coming from the ovary cannot be reached by sperms anymore. The unfertilized egg will be absorbed by the body.

Operation:

The operation is performed under general anasthesia; the risks of the operation are quite small (however not "zero"):

Through a 0.5 cm incision at the navel an optical device (laparoscope) is brought into the abdominal cavity; through another cut like that at the lower abdomen the fallopian tubes are grabbed and electrically scabbed using some plier-like tool. Thus the tubes are blocked.
