URINARY INCONTINENCE

Stress incontinence

This is due to a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles.
As a consequence of labour and birth, during menopause or after operations, an involuntary release of urine in small or large quantities comes about during such actions as coughing, sneezing, lifting heavy objects, or sports.

Urge incontinence

The sphincter muscles of the bladder are overactive.
There is a sudden urge to urinate, which can occur frequently, which leads to an involuntary loss of urine. The person affected urinates involuntarily after a coughing fit when the bladder is full.
