Clinic Fee - 10 € for your Health Insurance
By law ("Gesetz zur
Modernisierung der gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung" (GMG)) every
physician and psychotherapist must charge patients insured by
state health insurance a clinic fee of 10 € the
first time they request medical service within every quarter of a year.
Directly to the
Gynaecologist ? Of course
The free choice of
doctor is not touched by this law. You still can visit me as
your gynaecologist without having to consult your general physician first. If
your visit at our clinic is the first medical service within the
current quarter of the year I will still fill in all the transfer
forms for other physicians - even if you have to see your
family doctor. Then you do not have to pay the clinic fee again for that
quarter of the year.
How about short inquiries ?
The clinic fee
of 10 € must also be paid for minor
medical services. This applies to:
consultation by phone,
prescriptions for therapies or contraception,
filling in of transfer forms; e.g. for mammography
short consultation in the clinic
Who does not have to pay the clinic fee
?
children and teenagers below 18 years,
patients who visit my clinic with a transfer form from another physician
patients who request the shortened
medical check-up
Precautionary check-up without the clinic fee
?
It
is not completely
true that medical check-ups - e.g. cancer prevention and prenatal
precautionary check-ups - do not require the clinic fee . Please note that
Prenatal precautionary
check-ups
The so-called "Mutterschaftsvorsorge Pur" is
free of charge with respect to the clinic fee. But in order to
provide state-of--the-art
precautionary treatment for you and your
unborn baby, additional examinations are necessary. These
examinations are not included in the catalogue of free-of-charge medical
services.
Cancer Prevention
Daily practice shows that
during most cancer prevention examinations, additional treatment and
consultation is neccessary. These additional medical services are not clinic
fee-free.
We recommend
therefore: for best medical care during your precautionary check-ups,
pay the clinic fee of 10 € or hand in a transfer form. Then you will
receive comprehensive medical services and - if neccessary - transfer forms to other
physicians.
